The Genuine quality was awarded as promotional items that also became regular ingame items, such as the Conniver's Kunai or the AWPer Hand. For example, you could be awarded a Genuine AWPer Hand for pre-purchasing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on steam prior to August 12, 2012. The Kunai, along with the Half Zatoichi and the Fan-o-War, could be obtained in Genuine quality via preordering Total War: Shogun 2.
